Well thank you Brad. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't have more competition (I didn't even think I would win this one) but I'm hoping that this challenge, as it will run until the September meeting, will be more interesting and a bit of a learning experience for all members. I'm calling it "Rule of Thirds" but it's also about composition overall. It could include negative space, parallel and converging lines, anything that demonstrates a good understanding of how to "frame" photograph. But remember, rules are meant to be broken!!!!! So do some research and get out there and shoot! Congratulations to the other entries in the last challenge and good luck with this one.
Mini Challenge #29 "Rule of Thirds" by Dave Dewar June 20/2011
The topic is "Rule of Thirds" and this is the challenge:
Post a shot that was taken using good composition. The field is wide open and only limited by imagination. You may use as any subject but follow the rule of thirds.
Tell us about what you did to set up your shot. This challenge will end the Sunday before our meeting in September.
Happy shooting! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you submit a photo, please check in when the winners are posted(soon after the closing date). The first place winner is expected to host and pick the Topic for the next challenge. If the first place person cannot host, it moves to the 2ND place; etc.

Sorry I have not been on the board much... but I have been trying to follow along while travelling too much these past months. I wanted to post one of my pics from the fireworks this year... I really liked the composition of this one. Thanks for the monthly challenge... I hope to post more soon. Attachments:

This is my first entry for the "Challenge" This is Einstien our baby. This was shot as he was waking up from a nap. My goal was to ensure the background was clean, and the kitten was lined up to the left of the frame. Lighting was natural 2:--pm in the afternoon (no flash) Lens: 18-55 Nikkor Camera: Nikon of course! Attachments:

I think it is the best photograph I have ever taken. Is your mojo back?
