Dave has edited the portraits and also picked up the frames. They are nice looking frames as well. I will have the pictures printed this weekend. We are trying to get the dance academy for November 27. Im sure that we will, we are palnning to have club members out at app. 10:00am that morning t assemble pictures into frames. I will contact the families and arrange for them to drop in between the hours of 12:00- 3:00pm to pick up their pictures and memory sticks.
Here is the article that has been submitted to the Daily Press for the letters to the editor section. Thanks Dave and Lynne for your feed back on the article. See everyone at our club meeting
Porcupine Photo Club Portraits for Families Recently the Porcupine Photo Club held a Family Portrait Shoot called Portraits for Families. With the assistance of sponsors, the PPC will provide each participating family with a matted and framed portrait at no charge. The Porcupine Photo Club was honoured to provide this service to the families in our community and we wish to thank all of the families that participated and allowed our club to photograph them. We hope the portrait they receive will be cherished for many years to come. I believe this was the first time such an event has been held in our area and the members of the Porcupine Photo Club are grateful that we were able to provide this gift to families that may not have the financial means to have a family portrait taken. The PPC would like to thank the following sponsors: Xstrata Copper Kidd Operations, G4S Security, Ackland’s Grainger, Joanne’s Art Centre, DeBeers Canada, Porcupine Kinsmen Club, aesthetician Krista Bozzer, and finally Mellissa Kelly Dance Academy along with Julie Prevost and students. We also would like to thank the local organisations that assisted in marketing our event by contacting families and handing out brochures. Last but not least, thank you to our local media Timmins Daily Press, Q 92 Radio and CBC French Radio for excellent coverage. The Porcupine Photo Club has already begun planning for next year’s event with what we hope will be an annual affair. All of the participating families will be contacted shortly to make arrangements to receive their family portraits. Thanks Brad and thats to bad Terry we will miss you there.
Cally and I have most of the portraits framed, only a couple more to do. If we could meet at the dance academy for 11:30am that would be great. I have started contacting the families to advise them that we will be there between noon and 3:00pm for pick up. Whew almost done. If participating club members could let me know what you think went well and what we could do different for next year then I could issue the final report. Thanks everyone.
