Mini Challenge #30 "Shutter Priority"
Hosted by Aurele Monfils September 21/2011
The topic is "Shutter Priority" this is the challenge:
Post a shot that was taken using various shutter speeds and in different situations. Be it low light conditions, freezing motion or showing motion.
The field is wide open and only limited by imagination.
Be sure to tell us what shutter setting you used and how you set up your shot.
This challenge will end Sunday October 16 and will be judged shortly after.
As usual the first place winner is expected to host and pick the topic for the next challenge. If the first place person cannot host, it moves to the 2ND place; etc.
A little information on Shutter
Shutter Speed is measured in fractions of a second and it determines how fast the shutter opens and closes, thereby controlling the key element in photography – light; specifically the time-frame in which light registers on the image sensor (or on film). The Shutter Speed captures the world in split seconds, but it can also be slowed down to a few seconds (or remain open longer at the photographer’s discretion). This enables all sorts of possibilities in determining what is actually recorded to the image sensor.
Shutter Speed is one of the components of what is commonly called the Exposure Triangle; the other components of the triangle are Aperture and ISO. Normally if you make an adjustment to one component you may need to make adjustments to the other 2 components of the triangle. Good Luck and have fun shooting. During the month I will have at least 1 outing where we will have an opportunity to experiment with the Exposure Triangle. I will post the date of the outing in the meeting and outings section. Have Fun Shooting
